ICYE volunteer work programme
Maailmanvaihto – ICYE Finland receives every year about 20–25 volunteers from ICYE partner countries all over the world. There are National Committees of the ICYE Federation in over 30 countries in all continents.
There are no language or educational limitations for the volunteers, but it is very useful to know at least the basics of English (or Finnish). The ICYE volunteer programme is mostly for persons aged between 18 to 30 years, but the upper age limit is flexible. ICYE volunteers arrive in Finland in August and their volunteer work period is 6 to 12 months.
The ICYE volunteers themselves pay the programme fee for their National ICYE Committee. The amount of the programme fee differs from country to country. The programme fee comprises of an health insurance, Finnish language and cultural training, full board and the support from Maailmanvaihto during the volunteer period. The volunteer is accommodated either at the work placement or with a Finnish host family. The daily travel costs between place of accommodation and work are covered and the volunteer work place provides the volunteer with the monthly pocket money. In 2012–2013 the minimum pocket money is 85€ per month.
