MEETINGS AND CULTURAL SHOCKS

ICYE is one of the oldest youth exchange organisations in the world. ICYE is a non-profit civic organisation created by young people, which offers multifaceted voluntary work opportunities within local communities and international organisations in more than 30 countries on all continents. Maailmanvaihto ry – ICYE Finland, sends and receives 30-40 young people each year. We do not exchange large masses of people. Indeed in a small organisation, people know you and your individual needs are taken into consideration.

Maailmanvaihto in Finland

The Maailmanvaihto programme is reciprocal, which means that in addition to sending volunteers, we host foreign volunteers in Finland each year. In this way we organise intercultural meetings also in Finland. Every year Finnish host families and special work communities receive our foreign volunteers. All those who are interested in foreign cultures and interesting people can be host families. Different kinds of social projects and communities are suitable voluntary work placements.
